Call Intelligence (CI) is one of Terret's most powerful features, transforming your sales conversations into actionable insights. This guide explains how CI works, what you need to get started, and how to choose the right call recording solution for your team.
What is Call Intelligence?
Call Intelligence uses your call recordings to extract transcripts and analyze conversations with your prospects and customers. The insights generated from these calls power multiple features across the Terret platform.
What CI Does for You
Call Intelligence is what makes Terret truly powerful. By analyzing your conversations, CI automatically extracts sentiment, identifies key topics, generates summaries, and creates action items. This intelligence flows throughout the platform—informing deal health scores, powering TerretGPT with conversation context, helping compose follow-up emails, and keeping your deal information current. Instead of manually updating CRM fields or trying to remember what was discussed, CI does the heavy lifting so you can focus on selling.
How to Enable Call Intelligence
You have two options for enabling CI in Terret: use Terret Notetaker, our native recording solution, or connect your existing call recording service.
Option 1: Use Terret Notetaker
Terret Notetaker is our native call recording solution, a bot that automatically joins your meetings on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet to record and analyze your conversations.
Prerequisites for Terret Notetaker
Before you can start using Terret Notetaker, you'll need:
- Calendar sync: A user with workspace admin permissions must sync users' calendar to allow Terret to see and join scheduled meetings
- Add Terret notetaker: A user with admin access in zoom, must add Terret Notetaker from the Zoom Marketplace
- Authorize the bot: Link your zoom account to authorize the bot to join calls on behalf of your organization
- Call sync: Your Terret admin must enable "call sync" for each user who wants automatic call recording and enable the call dialer feature
How Terret Notetaker Works
Once set up, Terret Notetaker intelligently manages your call recordings:
Automatic Joining When call sync is enabled for a user, the bot will automatically join scheduled meetings that include a call link (Zoom, Teams, or Meet).
Important: By default, Terret Notetaker only joins external meetings (identified by analyzing attendee email addresses). This ensures your internal team discussions remain private unless you specifically want them recorded. If you'd like to enable CI for internal calls as well, contact your Terret administrator.
Manual Control You maintain full control over which calls get recorded
- Disable recording for specific upcoming calls through the upcoming calls list in Terret
- Remove the bot during a meeting by kicking it from the call, just like any other participant
Language Support Terret Notetaker supports joining meetings conducted in multiple languages. However, all transcripts and analysis are currently performed in English for consistency across the platform.
Processing Time: Calls recorded with Terret Notetaker are typically analyzed and available in your workspace in less than one hour after the meeting ends.
Option 2: Connect Your Existing Call Recorder
If your team already uses a call recording platform, Terret can integrate directly with it. We currently support:
- Gong
- Chorus
- Mindtickle (support coming soon)
- Salesloft (support coming soon)
Prerequisites for Third-Party Integrations
To connect your existing call recorder, you'll need to enable the following settings and your IT department will need to provide API credentials for the integration. The specific requirements vary by platform, so work with your Terret administrator to ensure you have the necessary permissions.
- Calendar sync: A user with workspace admin permissions must sync users' calendar to allow Terret to see and import scheduled meetings
- Call sync: Your Terret admin must enable "call sync" and "enable Third Party Call" for each user who wants automatic call recording.
- Third-party call integration: Your Terret admin must enable the proper integration in the Call Recording settings
For Gong Integration
Your IT department will need to provide:
- Gong Base URL
- Gong API Key
- Gong API Secret
They can retrieve these credentials by visiting the Gong API documentation at https://gong.app.gong.io/settings/api/documentation#overview and following the instructions.
Processing Time: When using third-party integrations, calls typically appear in Terret and complete analysis within a few hours of the recording finishing.
